Position Description

 

College Mission

Mount Pleasant College (MPC) is a Registered Training Organisation specialising in Vocational Education and Training courses for people of all ages. Our goal at MPC is to equip people for life and the workplace. Students benefit from quality training, delivered by qualified trainers with industry experience and knowledge in an encouraging and supportive atmosphere.

 

Nationally-accredited courses are delivered to cater for a wide range of interests, as well as some non-accredited courses that are generally shorter. Courses are typically in the areas of the Creative Arts including media, music and sound production.

 

Purpose of the Position:

  • In conjunction with the Church Leadership Group, to develop the College strategic and operational plans and to implement the plans
  • To provide leadership and pastoral care for staff and students of MPC
  • To be the primary point of contact with the Government Departments and regulatory authorities having responsibility for VET registration and accreditation.
  • To coordinate the effective and efficient operation of the training service (i.e. all aspects of the College)
  • To actively support and promote the ‘vision and mission’ of MPC by facilitating College training and service delivery in appropriate areas relating to College and the general community. This includes maintaining good relationships with the Community, schools, and community groups and to increase the college profile

 

Key Result Areas:

  1. To ensure that the College fulfils all of its obligations as a Registered Training Organisation and therefore remains compliant at all times with the regulations governing registration
  2. To lead the College team in the effective delivery of the College strategic and operational plans
  3. The provision of training needs for participants in College courses including those from schools and the general community
  4. Facilitate the marketing of the College
  5. Facilitate growth of the College while maintaining the missional focus
  6. Work to build bridges with the church community regarding College courses and services keeping in view at all times the missional nature of the College
  7. Lead and pastorally care for a high quality team to develop a growing respected reputation within the Church and outside community
  8. Develop and maintain ongoing relationships colleges, local schools and other stakeholders

 

Essential Tasks

  1. Provide leadership within the College
  2. Develop a College strategic and operational plan and implement the plans
  3. Oversee reporting obligations to the VET regulatory agencies
  4. Lecture in appropriate College courses as required
  5. Liaise with College staff with regard to courses and training, recruiting additional staff where necessary
  6. Supervise all College employees in order to maintain compliance with all VET sector and other educational and facilities requirements
  7. Provide pastoral care for staff and students
  8. Actively nurture healthy relationship between the College and Church
  9. Network with partner schools, colleges and other stakeholders to develop rapport and encourage working relationships

 

Competencies

  • Hold current qualifications in education and / or minimum of Cert IV in TAE with
    other relevant workplace experience
  • Prepare and be able to meet all RTO requirements
  • Maintain a well-developed working knowledge of the VET sector
  • Hold excellent verbal / written communication and Interpersonal skills
  • Have highly developed organisational, administrative and problem solving/trouble shooting skills
  • Have highly developed team building and management skills
  • Display strong financial acumen
  • Have public relation skills
  • Have the ability to be flexible and multi-skilled in a diverse range of duties

Position: Children and Families Ministry Assistant

 

Position Description

 

Purpose of position:

To be actively involved in children and families ministries with particular focus for Sunday morning ministry with children in MPK (Mount Pleasant Kids) at the Booragoon campus.

 

Key Result areas:

The Children and Families Assistant will work with the Children and Families Pastor (C&FP)to ensure that;

  1. The pastoral care, training and rostering of volunteers in MPK encourages a strong and vibrant ministry.
  2. Relevant curriculum is planned, written or sourced, communicated and implemented with MPK volunteer leaders.
  3. Primary school aged children and their families are included and supported through the ministries of our church community.

 

Essential Tasks:

1. Communicate effectively with the Children and Families Pastor and MPK Administrator by,

  • Attending regular Children and Families planning and prayer meetings.
  • Working collaboratively.

 

2. Under the leadership of the C&FP have particular focus for Sunday morning MPK (primary school ages) at the Booragoon Campus, which includes.

  • Recruiting, rostering and pastorally caring for the MPK volunteer team.
  • Delegating tasks within the MPK team, building and supporting the team of volunteers through both coaching and intentional training events.
  • Continuing a ‘spiral curriculum’, where children re visit topics in increasing depth and complexity as they move through the MPK program.
  • Liaising with the MPK team to ensure the provided curriculum is appropriate and implemented well.
  • Prepare curriculum documents and materials each term and ensure timely distribution to the MPK team.
  • Assist with informing and communicating curriculum, events and resources to support parents in the discipleship their children
  • Being proactive in building good relationships with both children and parents, which includes supporting behavioural concerns.

 

3. Be involved with planning, preparing and running special church events for children and families.

 

4. Continued attitude of learning and growing through regular reading of current literature, attending workshops/conferences that include upskilling in curriculum and ministry with children and families as appropriate.
