Café Manager/Barista

for new café opening in Booragoon

 

Mount Pleasant Baptist Church are seeking to employ an energetic and experienced Café Manager/Barista who will have the opportunity to be instrumental in the finishing touches for their brand new Café to the community, opening soon at our Booragoon Campus in 2017.

 

This café will be a great place of community and connection around the common enjoyment of good quality coffee and food. With a contemporary vibe, we will be providing efficient and consistent service.

 

Hours:

Tuesday–Saturday 6.00am-3.00pm

 

Essential Skills:

  • Dedicated, able to work in a fast paced environment, with strong leadership skills
  • A passion for healthy, delicious food and great coffee
  • Friendly, outgoing, service-orientated and well presented
  • Positive hands on approach
  • Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills
  • An eye for innovation and detail

 

Key Duties

    • Responsible for the day to day operations
    • Accountability for cost of goods, stock levels, stock rotation and ordering
    • Merchandising of displays, food offerings and general café presentation
    • Cash control
    • Maintain POS operations
    • Maintain communications with  kitchen staff through regular and daily briefings
    • Build a strong culture within the team
    • Be responsible for staff management including rostering, recruitment and selection
    • Provide exceptional customer service at all times
    • Resolve customer complaints and inquiries swiftly and amicably

Assistant Children and Families Pastor

 

Mount Pleasant Baptist Church is seeking to employ an Assistant Children and Families Pastor. This position will oversee the provision of age-appropriate Christian education curriculum to children of varying ages at both campuses of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

 

The successful applicant will have excellent communication skills and the ability to lead a team in a collaborative way that cares for team members. They will be required to work closely in partnership with, and be responsible to the Children and Families Pastor.

 

A teaching background or proven experience in Children’s Ministry will be an advantage.

 

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic environment, as Mount Pleasant Baptist Church moves towards an increasingly intergenerational and collaborative model of the church, partnering with families to pass on the faith to the next generation.

 

Hours:

22 hours a week, including Sundays

 

Essential Qualities

  • A strong personal faith in Jesus and a great love for serving Him.
  • Experience of serving in a church environment.
  • A heart for children.
  • Passionate about ministry to children and their families.

 

Essential Tasks

  • Oversee the provision of age-appropriate Christian education curriculum to children of varying ages at both campuses.
  • Work towards a ‘spiral curriculum’, where children revisit topics in increasing complexity as they move through the stages of the programme.
  • Attend workshops/conferences that include upskilling in curriculum as appropriate.
  • Ability to delegate tasks within the team and to build them up.
  • Liaise with volunteers to ensure the provided curriculum is appropriate and implemented well.
  • Attend regular curriculum planning meetings and take a lead role in these meetings with the Children and Families Pastor.
  • Prepare curriculum books each term and ensure timely distribution to the team
  • Assist with informing and communicating to parents re curriculum as appropriate.
  • Ensure that any new instructions re Sunday mornings are noted from the communication book and duly communicated as necessary, with regard to teaching and curriculum issues.
  • Assist with any mail outs, electronic or postal.
  • Building good relationships with the children. Oversee discipline issues that occur.
  • Be involved with planning, preparation and running of special events.
  • Take a leading role in training and upskilling the volunteers, both junior and adult helpers.
  • Upload information regarding curriculum for Children and Families onto the MPBC website as needed.
  • Work closely with and liaise regularly with the Children and Families Pastor.
  • Attend Children and Families team meetings.
  • Work closely with other Children and Families team members.
